Well, it’s 30% faster than Pro Tools….or pretty much any audio editing program out there….for cold voice editing – which is what I do for a living.Īdobe Audition (AA) can be customized to make cold voice editing tasks as simple as a single keystroke. I have used Adobe Audition (back in the day “Cool Edit”) for over a decade. It’s great software, yes! No argument here on that subject.īut, for the “home studio based” voice talent – arguably a recording novice in most cases – it’s beyond overkill, insanely complicated and therefore, time consuming. Pro Tools was designed for audio engineers who record musicians, work in film, or other multi-track VST/RTAS intensive tasks etc. So who’s the idiot? The person who talked you into using Pro Tools. Kinda like using a leaf rake to spread gravel. I’m here to tell you…if you’re a voice talent who primarily records and edits cold voice audio with Pro Tools, you’re using the wrong software. It’s likely because the guy in the music store, their audio engineer friend or both told them that Pro Tools is the “be-all end-all” of recording software…and if you’re not using Pro Tools, you’re an idiot. Why then, do so many voice talent use Pro Tools? I’ll tell you why. Software “captures” whatever you give it – good or bad – in all it’s digital glory of zeros and ones….000110101101001010101, etc. (For the record, I will state that Pro Tools hardware A/D converters are exceptional, but for the average VO talent, not essential). Only “hardware” affects the sound, which is your A/D converter, microphone, pre-amp, etc. As a voice talent with a basic studio setup – the “software” that you use for voiceover recording doesn’t make a difference in the sound of your audio. ![]() ![]() Let me first make this point perfectly clear. In fact, many engineers request the raw audio file the talent’s only task is to hit record and save the file in the proper format. ![]() Working with cold VO is pretty simple in the realm of recording there’s only so much that one needs to do to the audio before it’s sent off and therefore, the most basic of audio editing software is normally more than enough to do the job. If you’re like most voice talent, then it’s pretty likely that you’re recording a single mono voice file and editing said audio either for audition purposes or an actual gig. I have found that many people tend to focus on the software (or brand) itself, all the while ignoring the single, most important consideration which is…. This is a very subjective topic everyone has an opinion about what is the best audio editor to use for voiceover recording. ![]() ![]() ![]() Because of the deluxe one-way valves, the inflation and deflation process is now easier than ever. Overall, despite the Ford Escape offering more cargo capacity, the Chevy Equinox is just a better all-rounder with its car-like handling, powerful performance, and modern features. And while the Escape might be a bit cheaper out the gate, the Equinox delivers better fuel economy, making it cheaper in the long run. Similarly, the Equinox's tech is far more up-to-date and many of its features become available much earlier in its trim levels compared to the Ford. The Escape has received a facelift since its release, but it still looks boxier than the sleek Equinox, and its interior shows its true age, whereas the Chevy sports modern stylings that, while not of the highest quality, still look good. Neither car has great power in its base guise, with the Ford offering a 180-hp, 177-lb-ft engine, but the Chevrolet's optional engine delivers better performance. While the Escape has received more attention from Ford than most of its older models usually do, the youthful Equinox just seems to be more with the times than the older SUV. ![]() But for just a few thousand dollars more, you can get a compact SUV that has it all. The only reason you might consider it over leading competitors is the slightly lower price tag, especially on the base-level L trim. It does, however, come with a lot of advanced safety features as standard, with even more becoming available as you move up the trim levels.īut, even with its respectable infotainment suite and convenience features, the Chevrolet simply isn't the best in any one particular area, and it certainly isn't an amazing all-rounder. And while you might think that it makes sacrifices in these areas to be better in others, the Equinox does not offer better fuel economy or cargo capacity than either rival. The Chevy handles remarkably well for an SUV, but it is not as refined as the Honda CR-V nor as sporty as the Mazda CX-5. But, upon closer inspection, several weak points become apparent. With a host of standard features, a decent and workable infotainment system, and very competitive fuel economy, at least with the base engine, the compact SUV certainly looks good on paper. While it doesn't do as much to stand out as many of its competitors do, the Chevrolet Equinox is a perfectly capable and amiable companion on the road. The sound-dampening is a little less impressive, with wind, road and engine noise often making their way into the cabin. The comfortable seats work in tandem with the suspension to smooth over most road imperfections, delivering a ride that is surprisingly pleasant for a car that boasts this level of dexterity despite its size. ![]() The wide turning circle is something you should keep in mind when maneuvering in tight spaces. On the road, the Equinox is well-mannered, feeling equally capable at high speeds on long, open stretches of roads, or leaning into sharp turns on the windier roads. Goldilocks brakes provide the perfect amount of resistance while not compromising on stopping power, bringing the SUV to a stop in around 115 ft from 60 mph, which is an impressive performance. At higher speeds, the steering gains some weight to provide better feedback and more driver engagement. A test drive of the Chevy Equinox shows that the compact SUV handles much better than its larger brethren, with the steering remaining light and precise at low speeds, allowing for nimble parking lot maneuvers, although this is hindered by the vehicle's unusually large turning circle. ![]() 7/14/2023 0 Comments Lets go fly a kite snowstorm![]() ![]() It will fly wounded, about four feet off the snow, yawing treacherously, awaiting intelligent instruction from the control bar. 7/14/2023 0 Comments Annotate article![]() An AI system might be capable of spotting cancer, he said, giving a hypothetical example, but only in a certain type of imagery from a certain type of machine so now, you need a human to check that the AI is being fed the right type of data and maybe another human who checks its work before passing it to another AI that writes a report, which goes to another human, and so on. AI is very good at specific tasks, Duhaime said, and that leads work to be broken up and distributed across a system of specialized algorithms and to equally specialized humans. Neither of those is quite what he sees occurring. When that didn’t happen, conventional wisdom shifted to radiologists using AI as a tool. Erik Duhaime, CEO of medical-data-annotation company Centaur Labs, recalled how, several years ago, prominent machine-learning engineers were predicting AI would make the job of radiologist obsolete. Already, this has given rise to a global industry staffed by people like Joe who use their uniquely human faculties to help the machines.Īutomation often unfolds in unexpected ways. The more AI systems are put out into the world to dispense legal advice and medical help, the more edge cases they will encounter and the more humans will be needed to sort them. In 2018, an Uber self-driving test car killed a woman because, though it was programmed to avoid cyclists and pedestrians, it didn’t know what to make of someone walking a bike across the street. ![]() These failures, called “edge cases,” can have serious consequences. The most common clinical syndromes are bacteremia, lower respiratory tract infections, UTIs, surgical site infections, and intravascular device-associated infections. Įnterobacter infections are associated with an extensive range of clinical manifestations. According to the National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance System, Enterobacter is a common pathogen discovered from respiratory sputum, surgical wounds, and blood found in isolates from intensive care units (ICU).Įnterobacter has become increasingly resistant to many previously effective antibiotics. In 2017, the World Health Organization issued a list of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in which carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) was in the critical priority group for an urgent need to develop new antibiotics. Starting in the 1970s, it was acknowledged that the Enterobacter species could cause nosocomial infections. Certain species of this bacterium can be part of the microflora of the mammalian gastrointestinal tract, while other Enterobacter species can be present in human skin surfaces, water, certain foods, soil, and sewage.
